Mountain Dawn dominates January

January 5th, 2010

About 8 months ago Colleen Doyle, Marla Caceres, Kat Barker, Nancy Friedrich, and I formed the improv group Mountain Dawn. After months of rehearsal under the watchful eye of the Danny Mora, we are now fully poised to fill your January with hilarity! We have an improv run on Sunday nights in January at Second City’s Donny’s Skybox space as well as a sketch show “Snatch it Back” premiering on January 14th in Chicago Sketchfest. Tickets for Sketchfest can be found at www.chicagosketchfest.com Hope to see you there! Our shows are more polished than this flyer, I swear.

Impress These Apes - Guest Appearance

October 27th, 2009

I relived my Impress These Apes glory for one night only. Last week former contestants were paired with current contestants with the challenge of performing Partnered Stand-up. I was paired with Thomas Whittington and we presented Bobby and Barbara Blinton’s Variety Minutes.

I could try to explain what our act was about, but I’ll let the video speak for itself.

We received 2 10s and a 9. Highest score of the night! Still got it! :)

It was really fun and challenging to compete in the show again, but I remembered just how stressful being a contestant is. I wasn’t even the one being judged this time and I was still unbelievably nervous! It was nice to be able to pop in for one challenge without the pressure and drain of 8 weeks in a row. This season’s contestants are awesome though, so if you’re not keeping up with the show you’re missing out! It’s not too late to play catch up and pick a favorite to win in two weeks.

Solo Show in the works!

I’ve been developing material for my solo show, titled Small Victories: An Unflattering Vanity Project . I’ve tested some sketches at Graffitti as well as SketchTest and I’m pretty excited to get this whole show on its feet and I’d like to have a run booked before the fall. See, a small victory.

Our Feature Presentation returns!

Our Feature Presentation is back!  After a brief hiatus, we’re back TWICE a week. Come check out the improvised movie Thursday nights at 9pm and Saturday nights at Midnight upstairs in the DCT at iO. We’ve been having a lot of fun with the remount and last week’s Roast Beef: The Movie was one for the history books. Updates soon at ofpdb.com  Also, we’re working on a new poster, but in the mean time, enjoy this classic:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Threadless/34145704527?ref=ts

Every Thursday Bob Nanna and I are posting hourly videos where we give away prizes and spins on the prize wheel to random fans. Also, we occasionally wear funny hats and talk about random stuff. Its like a very short talk show with prizes and no celebrity guests.

So fun! Become a fan of Threadless on Facebook!

A Charlie Brown Christmas

A Charlit Brown Christmas

I’ll be playing Lucy in a stage recreation of A Charlie Brown Christmas at The Annoyance Theatre this December.  It’s part of a Christmas Double Feature with How the Grinch Stole Christmas- I play a Who in that one. :)

Get your Christmas nostalgia fix.

A Cat and The Tron Guy

August 6th, 2008

There was a special contestant at my last Don’t Spit The Water as A Cat before the show goes on hiatus. Jay Maynard- The Tron Guy! Yep, he built a realistic suit based on the movie Tron and he wore his whole get up. We had to take some special precautions with the final round to make sure he didn’t get zapped if his battery suit got wet. He was one tough customer and managed to hold his water during all 3 comedians in round 1 ….

but in the 2 minute round he gave in!

To be fair, I’m whispering in his ear that if he doesn’t spit the water I’ll claw his dick off. It was a dirty trick, considering that my character doesn’t usually speak. But I wasn’t gonna let him get away dry!

another new name needed

June 8th, 2008

alas, Hot Pocket is no longer on the iO schedule. (RIP) goodbye to an unabashedly fun, smart, and dirty team.

and now the task of finding a new name for my new team begins again.  while i did enjoy the fact that Hot Pocket was a euphemism for lady parts, not just a delicious microwavable snack, i wonder what the process of finding a team name will be like with this new group of people.  our name on the iO schedule right now is Joey’s Haunting, which is a Real World reference… lets hope we can decide on something quickly.

also, Don’t Spit the Water is going on indefinite hiatus beginning August 9th.  you may only have one more chance to see me as A Cat!  more info to come!
